Our Residence Casa di Caccia is situated in a very nice location inside an attractive pinewood which almost reaches the sea waters, where a wide sandy beach extends itself over kilometers and kilometers without ever losing its beauty.
The seaside is only 50 meters from the house, calculated in air distance, and just a little bit more if you take the path through the pinewood.
All kind of flats, both the Studio Flats and the Two-Room Flats, for 2 to 5 sleeps, are fully furnished, each has a bathroom, an equipped kitchen, a living-room with a balcony by the seaside with table, chairs and a deck-chair, or with a little private garden, an air-conditioning system, telephone and safe.
There is also a parking-place at the disposal of our guests.
Inside the Residence, amongst age-old pine trees, there’s a special garden, very well-cared for, with citrus trees, hybiscus, oleanders, bougainvilleas and other Mediterranean plants and flowers.
Among little inside paths, protected by bushes and blooming climbing plants, you will also find a gazebo, where you can have a rest in contact with nature, and a wide terrace for common usage with tables, chairs and sunbeds reserved only for our guests.
Very close to the Residence there is a very lively village square, with a supermarket, a bank, pizzerias and restaurants.
Thanks to its strategic position at the centre of the Coast of the Etruscans, it's quite easy to arrange daily trips to Florence, Siena, Pisa and Volterra, and not least through the Bolgheri Wine Road.
The origin of the name Casa di Caccia derives from the gamekeeper’s old house, which had been here up to the beginning of the 70’s, in the middle of the pinewood, which was a game preserve at that time.
The tourist facility was created in 1968 by a German couple that had fallen in love with Tuscany and have been able to combine German quality with Italian relaxed style.
You can still breathe that familiar atmosphere even today after they handed over the family business to their eldest son. In fact, along with the guests who have been following us since the very beginning, mostly Germans, we now have also so many Italian guests.
Today our guests are 55% Italians and 45% Foreigners, of which mostly are German-speaking.
Around 65% of our guests are habitués, they come back every year, and maybe that’s the reason why very often we hear our guests saying "Oh, back home at Casa di Caccia again".
Undoubtedly this is our best reward, and also a real proof that we have done a good job.
We have always had an environmental consciousness right from the beginning, since the facility was projected, and in fact the residence has been built up in full harmony with the big existing pine trees and the dune coastline.
We have always had this in mind, that such a beautiful natural environment had to be protected, therefore all our efforts have been concentrated into that direction through the years.
In 1980, taking advantage of a Regional Financial Contribution, Casa di Caccia was the first tourist facility provided with a solar warming system for the production of warm water.
In 1990 the old gas oil burner was replaced with an High Efficiency LPG boiler. On that occasion the old gas oil tank underground was decontaminated and taken away as it might have caused heavy environmental pollution.
As from 1997 we have gradually started renewing all flats, so that today they have better furniture, whilst the old electric systems and sanitary fixtures have been replaced with new ones with abetter environmental impact which allow energy saving.
In the year 2000 the solar system for the production of warm water has been fully replaced with a new one, which is in all similar to its predecessor but technologically advanced.
In 2006 we have set on the way to obtain our ISO 14001: 2004 certification, an official acknowledgment of all our company has been doing to protect such a beautiful natural environment around us.
As a result, in October 2007 we have obtained CSQ Certification no. 9191 RCDC.
In the following years some technical improvement took place. For instance, we have applied water saving devices onto all water taps and have changed all lamps so that it has been possible to use energy saving light bulbs everywhere.
In October 2010 we could install a 10.5 KW photovoltaic system.
Besides, since October 2011 we have obtained ECOLABEL certification, a further acknowledgment of the good job we have been doing as regards the environment.
Since 2015, we have voluntarily renounced to the ISO 14001 certification mark, in a context of cost containment.
